Senior Enterprise Risk Manager, Life Insurance

Our client is a mid-size European Life Insurance provider with a growing presence in Asia. As part the Asia expansion plan, the company is seeking a high-calibre Risk Management professional to join the Risk Management team, based in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Report to the Head of Risk Management and perform second line risk oversight and advisory to the business.
  • Implement and maintain the risk management and governance framework and policies, assist in the preparation of relevant reporting and documentation.
  • Perform independent Operational and Enterprise Risk management controls assessments, evaluation of effectiveness, risk identification and monitoring, ensuring incidents are mitigated and follow-up actions are taken.
  • Assist in incident reporting, scenario analysis, formulating risk management strategy.
  • Maintain a robust Operational and Enterprise risk framework, assess the design and effectiveness of controls, recommending and implementing enhancements on the risk management framework.
  • Assist the team in developing and implementing the financial risk management framework and policies to effectively manage capital-related risks, investment and asset and liability risk management.
  • Prepare materials, meeting packs and risk papers for Enterprise Risk Management Committee meetings and act as a coordinator for the meetings.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified with min. 8 year’s experience in risk management, audit and / or compliance gained from Financial Services.
  • Experience in Operational Risk Management gained from Life Insurance industry would be highly advantageous.
  • Relevant risk management experience from banking, Big 4 risk advisory and other financial institutions may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of Asia and Europe insurance regulations would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and Chinese.
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered at “Manager” level.
