Our client is a mid-size regional Life Insurance company undergoing significant growth in the Greater China region. As part of the current expansion, the company is seeking a leader in Finance to be the CFO of their Hong Kong local business.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Report to the CEO and lead the Finance function of the Hong Kong business, acting as a Business Finance Partner providing financial information, financial analytics, insights and advice to support strategic growth and development.
  • Lead and manage a team of Finance professionals responsible for a wide range of Finance operations matters including: financial accounting, investment accounting, statutory and regulatory reporting, financial planning and analysis, expense management, cash management and funding, tax management, payments, etc.
  • Assist the business on business planning and analysis, set up performance indicators, scorecards, budget and forecast.
  • Assist the actuarial team by providing accurate financial information when required.
  • Ensure financial data integrity, correct accounting treatment, internal control, policies and processes are in place.
  • Take lead in finance transformation and digitisation initiatives and participate in company-wide transformation programs.
  • Provide support from Finance perspectives to the CEO and management team, prepare and present to the board on the company’s Finance matters.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified with professional accounting qualifications and / or actuarial qualifications.
  • Min. 15+ years working experience in the Finance functions at senior management level gained from the Life Insurance sector.
  • At least 5+ years of recent working experience in Hong Kong within the Insurance industry.
  • Exposure to China strategies and market would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Insurance regulations.
  • Familiarity to latest IFRS and accounting policy development.
  • Proven team leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
