SVP / Director, Valuations Head, Product Control

Recognised as one of the world’s leading Banking Group, our client offers a full range of Global Markets, Sales & Trading and Investment Banking businesses to its clients internationally. As part of strategic growth, the Global Markets business is seeking a Regional Leader in Equities Valuations, based in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Reporting to the Regional Head of Valuations Control, you will lead a team of Valuations professionals focusing on Equities in Product Control, covering the Asia markets.
  • Develop and manage robust valuations processes, methodologies and change implementation for the Global Equities businesses.
  • Lead a team of valuations professionals responsible for all valuations, controls, reporting, methodologies, recommendations, reserves computation, trade reviews, returns levelling.
  • Partner with the Equities Product Control teams on valuations reporting and production matters.
  • Assess and review off-market rates checking, collateral disputes and permitted instrument monitoring which may impact valuations opinions and conclusions.
  • Provide fair value governance and controls monitoring and raise / discuss issues with the relevant businesses and committees involved.
  • Ensure requirements, accounting / regulatory standards, policies and standards are consistently applied
  • Be the contact point to handle audit and regulatory related issues.
  • Take a lead in continuous process improvement, automation and innovation projects, deploying usage of AI, machine learning and data analytics tools where appropriate.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the onshore and offshore teams, upskilling the team on strategic business partnering and value-add contribution.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified ideally in STEM related subjects.
  • 10-15 years relevant experience in Valuations, Product Control and / or Market Risk.
  • Strong products knowledge across Equities, Equity Derivatives, Exotics and Prime Brokerage.
  • Well-versed in valuations technique / methodologies, accounting principles, associated risks and applicable regulations.
  • IT skills in programming (Python) and data analytics tools.
  • Effective ability to lead and operate in a cross-location businesses and team environment.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, structured thinking with a commercial mind-set.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English.
