Group Operational Risk Manager, Life Insurance

Our client is a Leading Life Insurance provider with a strong establishment in Asia. As part of continuous growth, the group is seeking a high-calibre Operational Risk Management professional to join the Regional Operational Risk Management team, based in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

• Perform independent Operational Risk reviews and manage Operational Risk by countries portfolio and areas of specialization.
• Perform risk identification and monitoring, incident reporting, ensuring incidents are tracked and mitigated, identifying root causes and taking on follow-up actions.
• Lead risk and control assessments, review and challenge on first line activities and business initiatives.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of Operational processes and major / emerging risk topics.
• Assist in risk scenario analysis, Operational Risk capital assessment, ERM maturity assessments, formulating risk management strategy.
• Maintain a robust operational risk framework, assess the design and effectiveness of controls, recommending and implementing enhancements on the risk management framework.
• Recommend enhancement and implement the Group Operational Risk framework and systems.
• Provide Operational Risk training to business units and country teams and promote risk awareness and best practices across the local and regional teams.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

• Degree qualified ideally with relevant professional qualifications in risk management, audit, accountancy.
• Minimum 6 years relevant experience in Operational Risk Management gained from Life Insurance industry.
• Experience from Insurance Operations function with a strong risk and control mind-set would be considered.
• Relevant Operational Risk Management experience from other sectors like Retail Banking, Bancassurance, Insurance Brokerage, Non-Life or Reinsurance would also be considered.
• Experience from Risk Management Consultancy or Big 4 Risk Advisory focusing on Insurance sector are also considered.
• Regional experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English.
