Head of Corporate Treasury, Conglomerate

Our client is a leading Conglomerate Group with diversified businesses across hospitality, construction, entertainment, financial services and retail. Due to continuous growth and internal opportunities, an excellent leadership role has arisen for an experienced Treasurer to join and head the Corporate Treasury function, based in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Report to the CFO and managing a sizeable team in Corporate Treasury overseeing the Hong Kong and China businesses and operations.
  • Take a lead in managing the group’s cash and liquidity position, banking relationships, financing and borrowing as well as financial risk management and counterparty credit exposures.
  • Responsible for effective management of working capital, return on short-term cash surpluses and cash operations at retail outlets.
  • Maintain and review banking relationships and assess new and existing banking products suitable to the group.
  • Work with business leaders, investments and finance teams to assess financing needs and costs for capital projects, new initiatives and investments as well as day-to-day operating expenses.
  • Review and monitor financial risk issues managing interest rate risks, FX risks / exposures, counterparty credit exposures, cross-border transactions, other treasury risks matters.
  • Identify, initiate and participate in finance transformation, system and process change initiatives for efficiency improvement.
  • Provide leadership support, effective management and development of the team members.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

  • University degree with additional qualifications, e.g. CPA, CTP, CFA or MBA.
  • Minimum 15 – 20 years experience in Corporate Treasury, Cash & Liquidity Management, Finance Management.
  • Industry experience from Retail Banking, Large Conglomerates, Hotel Groups, Entertainment Groups, Online Retail / eCommerce or Airlines would be most relevant.
  • Good financial risk management skills and knowledge of financial markets and products.
  • Experience in managing bank relationships.
  • Familiar with Treasury management systems.
  • People leadership experience is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, additional ability to speak Cantonese and / or Mandarin would be advantageous but not required.
